Conry Tech graduates from Creative Destruction Labs’ inaugural Australian program

The Creative Destruction Lab, a global startup program for seed-stage, science-based companies, has just completed its first Australian program alongside The Monash Business School. Conry Tech was selected as one of only a small select group of companies from around the world to complete the prestigious 9-month program, from which startups are eliminated at each round of the four round process.

According to a Monash Business School post announcing the program’s launch in July 2023, “previous graduates include Tenstorrent (deep learning processors), North (augmented reality, acquired by Google), Atomwise (deep learning drug discovery), Xanadu (quantum computing) and Eavor (geothermal energy).”

This year’s Australian graduates, including Conry Tech, will now travel to Toronto on 18th June for the Global Creative Destruction Lab global super session event alongside other program finalists.  Based in Melbourne, Conry Tech, is reinventing air conditioning to make comfort sustainable. It has invented a revolutionary system that enables buildings to electrify, decarbonise, slash emissions, improve the comfort and health of its occupants, reducing energy consumption dramatically which will help accelerate the clean energy transition.  The company was founded by Ron Conry AM, the award-winning inventor of the Turbocor compressor, and by Sam Ringwaldt, who has been at the forefront of sustainability and efficiency in the global HVAC industry for 20+ years.

“I’ve been around the block, but I’ve never experienced a startup program quite like this. I think the best way to describe the CDL is like a nine-month survivor experience for founders,” said Conry Tech CEO, Sam Ringwaldt. “The process involves some uncomfortable, and sometimes brutal sessions, where experienced founders, scientific experts and venture capitalists pull apart every detail of your startup. Your business model either falls apart under the scrutiny, or you make changes and grow stronger during the process. I’ve learnt a lot from all the fantastic Australian and global mentors, and I’m looking forward to participating in the global final session of the program next month.
