Top Building Startup of the Year award
Conry Tech is thrilled to announce they have received the Top Building Startup of the Year award from Trellis at the VERGE 2024 Climate Tech conference in San Jose, California.
VERGE 24, by Trellis (previously GreenBiz), is a three-day climatetech conference that brings together new companies and professionals catalyzing change. Its startups and speakers innovate towards net zero in areas such as land use, energy, transport, buildings, and industry. For-profit climatetech startups have a critical role in mitigating climate change's effects and compliment the efforts of global governments, where climate change initiative funding can be insufficient.
There is widespread recognition that climate tech startups will be critical to combatting climate change as they develop unique solutions to critical problems, such as the need to reduce carbon emissions, waste, and pollution, and work to reduce energy consumption and harness more renewable power to enable the world to transition to a cleaner energy grid.
Trellis selects the 25 startups they consider to be the best from hundreds of startups around the world with 5 startups in each of the following categories: Drawdown and Land Use, Energy, Transport, Buildings and Industry. During the conference these 5 all pitch to a live audience and judging panel, and one startup is awarded as the winner of each category.
Here are the winners of each of the categories:
Drawdown and Land Use: Aquarry a startup that has developed a pit lake alkalinity enhancement innovation which can be utilised to conver post-mining pit lakes into carbon sinks for safe, measurable, and durable carbon removals.
Energy: Battery manufacturer Ateios Systems, which is “building better batteries for a better world”. This startup has a novel battery curing process designed to increase battery manufacturing speed and reduce processing costs.
Transport: Relocalize which is developing hyperlocal food systems to avoid transport wherever possible. A Relocalize hyperlocal food system uses AI, robotics, and IoT to streamline production processes locally and works on-site with food retailers and distributors within an autonomous contained micro-factory.
Buildings: Conry Tech, for their hyper-efficient distributed air-conditioning system that promises to reinvent air-conditioning.
Industry: Applied Bioplastics which is a sustainable plastic alternatives startup supplying affordable and environmentally friendlier thermoplastics made from plant fibers and standard, recycled, or biobased polymers.
